Latin Name Zantedeschia
Description This will grow to about 1 Metre (3ft) tall. They are grown as house plants and also as cut flowers. The leaves are arrow shaped, semi-erect and basal, deep green in colour. The flowers are white spathes each with a yellow spadix.
Hazards The whole of the plant is poisonous if eaten. The sap can cause irritation to the skin if handled.
Effects Nausea and vomiting,  burning of the mouth and throat. Skin rash and irritation of the eyes if touched after handling.
Flowering Period Late Spring, early Summer. As cut flowers, all year.
Location Indoor plants and floral displays. Some species grow outside in warmer areas.
