Description This house plant grows to about 60 cms. (2ft) tall. The leaves are broad and oval with green edges and creamy yellow irregular blotches. The young leaves are loosely curled before opening into mature leaves.
Hazards The whole of the plant is poisonous. Poisoning usually occurs if the leaves are eaten. The sap can cause irritation if the plant is handled.
Effects Burning and swelling of the mouth, tongue and throat, breathing restrictions, nausea and vomiting can occur if eaten. Handling of the plant can cause skin rash and eye infection.
Flowering Period This is a house plant grown for its foliage. Some varieties produce white-greenish flowers which vary in flowering times.
Location Indoor displays and as a general house plant.
