Latin Name Laburnum Anagyroides
Description The leaves are three oval leaflets on a slender stalk. The yellow flowers are on long hanging clusters. Bunches of green seed pods form after flowering turning brown in autumn.
Hazards Children are likely to pick pods and eat the seeds within. The laburnum is one of the highest in incidents of poisoning in this country. The flowers are also poisonous.
Effects Abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, burning of the mouth and throat followed by drowsiness.
Flowering Period May to July followed by seed pods after flowering.
Location Parks and gardens, sometimes found in semi-wild state.
