| Description |
This shrub
has narrow pointed leaves, smooth and bright green darkening in colour as
they mature. The white flowers are produced on cone-shaped clusters and
smell sweet, followed by black berries. Some cultivated species have
yellow and variegated leaves. |

plant is poisonous but particularly the berries. |

Even a small
amount of berries can be serious if eaten. The symptoms are vomiting,
diarrhoea, stomach pains, convulsions. |
